These are an energetic chicken, some are very friendly, some more aloof. All the roosters we have had were friendly. They seem more intelligent than many chickens and we have had a couple of pullets want to tree roost. Never had females go broody. Absolutely stunning birds with their dark eyes and slender blue legs! The rooster combs are magnificent!
They lay plenty of big white eggs secretly (and together) when they can, so watch that if free ranging. If you take the eggs they will still lay in that same spot, so it's just a case of watching them, then adding it to your daily egg collection route.
They absolutely love the heat and go out foraging while all the English breeds are hiding in the shade. They do suffer from frost bite in the cold (under -15*C) I vaselined combs and wattles but it doesn't last long, so consider providing heat. Fairly productive, friendly curious chickens that are gorgeous. A good bet for a fancy white egg layer in warmer climes.
