To start, these hens lay some really pretty eggs! They are such a pretty shade of blue. Although they don't lay a ton of eggs close together, they lay all year long which is a plus that many don't achieve.

Their personalities seem to vary drastically - You can get a really sweet, calm hen or you can get a hen that will harass all of your other chickens. Mine have been sweet! They also vary in their ability to be free range or escapers..mine were free range.

If you get these birds as chicks, they are absolutely adorable! They only take about 5 months to reach full size, too. I highly, highly recommend this breed. I did just write a review on my Orpington and want to clarify that my Orpington was 2 months old before I got my Ameraucana's as chicks. Because of this, they get along great and the Ameraucana's don't harass the Orpington.
