I LOVE my ameraucanas! They are curious, smart, and loving. One of the reasons I love them so much is because they are all so different. They are all different colors. The ameraucana is not synonymous to an Easter Egger! This is very important. An ameraucana lays BLUE eggs while an Easter Egger can lay green, pink, brown, white, but NOT BLUE! If you want an ameraucana, go to a reputable breeder of them not a commercial hatchery. A commercial hatchery might try to sell you an Easter Egger that they label as an ameraucana. Be Careful!
Now, back to the ameraucana. They are sweet and beautiful! The blue eggs are the extra WOW factor to impress your guests! They can be broody and, depending on the bird, not lay as many eggs as you may like. Bantams will lay smaller eggs than standard size ameraucanas. They are great in hot and cold weather! They are a great chicken to add to your flock and I highly recommend you to get one or two or one hundred!
