Ameraucana chickens are gorgeous. Their coloring varies with an interesting array of hues. They are fun to watch and lay medium size blue eggs.
My family has owned many Ameraucaunas over the years and we love to watch them roost about claiming their territory. They are very independent and seem to strut around with pride.
On average our chickens lay about 250 or so eggs per year. Most eggs are light blue, but we will see the occasional green egg that will go nicely with that Green Eggs and Ham meal you want to prepare for your children.
Ameraucaunas are fully feathered birds which helps to insulate them during bitter cold months like the ones we had on our ranch. They also have beards, muffs, and tails which make them unique from other chickens.
Our chicken weighed in about 5 pounds and was a delight to watch in all her glory.
These chickens make for great show chickens and would be a nice addition to your chicken coop.
