There is some debate about how this breed developed. It is likely it came from the Easter Egger or mixed breed chicken. Anyways, breeders have developed a very wonderful and unusual breed of chicken. If you are interested in a chicken breed that is calm, unusually looking, comes in many colors and lays interesting blue eggs this is the breed for you. It is not in my opinion a great laying egg. My experience was getting a one or two eggs per week per chicken of this breed. This breed of chicken excelled in making through the winter in great shape due to its ear muffs and pea combs. The APA recognizes eight varieties . They are: black, blue, blue wheaten, brown red, buff, silver, wheaten, and white.
