I adore our chickens. They are like little sparks of light in the dark. They're free run chickens, so we let them out in the morning and then all day they run around in a little group, eating bugs and scratching. We usually get one egg from each of them every day except when it gets really dark in winter and their laying slows a bit.
Because we have had our chickens since they were born and practically hand fed them and held them all the time, they're incredible friendly. Every time I step outside they run over, and I'll pick one of them up. They're super cuddly for chickens, and are friendly to everyone they meet.
Their eggs are really big and delicious. They're bigger than the grocery store jumbo eggs! We barely buy eggs any more, which is great. Occasionally the girls will get broody, but never for long. Their coop is kinda icky to clean, and if you know what chicken poop is like, you'll know why, but in general they're pretty easy to care for. The only hard thing is when their water freezes in winter.
If you're looking for hardy, lovely chickens amber sex link is the way to go. They're incredible chickens and go above and beyond what I expected.
