These guys are incredibly hardy and adaptable. For mine, I don't even use a heating mat, he lives at room temperature. They can live their entire life in a 5 gallon or a 10 gallon. I feed mine mealworms, crickets, and waxworms. Water should always be available by placing a sponge in a water dish. Bedding such as paper towels, cypress, coconut fiber, or newspaper is ideal. I prefer paper towels because it's cheap and easy to clean. Decorations are recommended and a hide is required. These are good pet choices for kids due to the fact they are so calm and easy to care for. Mine sits with me often while I watch TV or movies. Their first defense is never to bite although they do fling hairs which cause irritation but nothing serious. Even a bite from one of these guys is not potent enough to do serious damage to a human.
All in all, if you're looking for an easy and tame arachnid, Rose Hair Tarantulas are a perfect fit!
