While interesting to watch these pets are a bit more maintenance than some would have you believe. They function best if given both land and water and so require a fair sized tank for such small creatures. They also are best kept in pairs in my experience as they can become lonely as my first one did. She soon passed away.
I always enjoyed watching my fiddler crabs wander and interact but they were not fond of being handled.
The downside though this could vary per crab, they become attached to their companions and if one passes it is likely the mate will as well if they have become used to each other.
