This species is a great alternative to the usual "beginner" species of tarantula, especially if you live in the U.S.
These are U.S. natives, commonly found in Arizona. They have extremely long life spans (adult females are rumored to live 30-40 years or more!), but the downside to this is that if you get a spiderling, you'll be spending many years waiting for an adult - their growth rate could be described as "glacial."
This species is typically docile, and many will tolerate gentle handling. They are extremely easy to care for, and not too picky about their care requirements, making them very forgiving for beginner enthusiasts.
