this Costa Rican tarantula is a docile but skittish pet. just like i suggest with all handling, one must stay close to the ground with this T. it is notorious for suddenly jumping out of the keepers hand. they are new world tarantulas whos deffense is to kick urticating hairs, though though there first deffense, in my experience, is to jump and run. they are very easy to keep and make great displays. being an opportunistic burrower this T requires 6-8" of substrate which the T will make a burrow into, but still spends most of its time out of its hide in plain view. a slow grower, this species has been known to live as long as 25 years!
