Avicularia versicolor is a fantastic looking species - big legs, pink toes, very fluffy hairs, then a blue carapace that changes to red as they mature. Absolutely stunning and one of my favourites.

On top of that they're easy to care for, although you need to give them a tall tank if you want to see natural behaviour, especially webbing. I'd recommend one that opens from the front - if you take a top opening tank and they web up the top (which they will), you'll be breaking the web every time you want to go into the tank. You do need to be careful with this species and ventilation - make sure there's plenty of air flow, especially for spiderlings, and the humidity needs to be correct too.

Docile in temperament and an active spider to watch.

The photo is of a spiderling, just 1 month old!
