Finding a RightPet is an unpredictable adventure – hence our logo. Trixie (the girl) and Peanut (the elephant) epitomize the surprise and delight of life, especially when it’s found in unexpected places.
They say you can choose your friends but not your family. Well, I beg to differ.
Increasingly, we’re including our pets as members of our families. But unlike that bratty sister (just kidding S.) or quirky uncle we're stuck with for eternity, thankfully, we get to pick which animals we invite into our lives.
Unfortunately, when choosing our pets, we’re often swayed into making impulse decisions. You know, that puppy with the adorable plump, pink belly and twinkly eyes, or the teeny-tiny Iguana the pet store clerk promises will never grow beyond "yay big". Just think how long it takes us to pick something to watch on TV, where to go for dinner, and which outfit to wear - all ephemeral, short-term experiences. Then compare that to the rash decisions most of us make when adopting a pet - an intimate relationship which will last years or even decades.
We think folks need a little help finding the animals that are right for them, and that's why we're proud to introduce RightPet Match. Based on the (honest!) answers you give to questions about your lifestyle, experience and preferences we're able to weigh this against known breed and species traits to match you with the right animal. And just for fun we'll also show you a rogues gallery of WrongPets - the ones you should adopt only if you're trying to punish your future self.
RightPet is also pioneering the study of the relationship between human personality traits (using the scientifically validated Five-Factor Model) and our animal likes / dislikes. So far, we’ve found statistically meaningful correlations between human personality traits, like Extraversion and Openness, and the behavioral and physical characteristics found in dogs and cats. Newts and tarantulas, well so far... not so much!
