I've mainly used Chiquita for polo. She's part of a string of 4 Criollo ponies. I have never seen such diverse personalities or quirkiness with other breeds of polo ponies, as with these 4 mares of mine. During exercise and trail rides, they were the calmest, laid back to the point of almost lazy, horses. But when they were saddled for chukkas they'd suddenly become more alert, with shiny eyes and pricked ears, prancing about and snorting. How clever are they to clearly differentiate between their every day saddle gear and chukka gear, and act accordingly! I've played on other breeds of horses too, and nothing wrong with them, but my Criollo ponies will forever be my first choice. They are stockish, sure footed, rather nimble and very clever horses.
