Radiation Therapy (palliative radiation therapy PRT) is used to treat tumors which have not yet spread to other parts of the body.
In veterinary medicine, radiation therapy is more often used for its palliative effects in relieving the negative effects of tumors, rather than attempting to kill the tumors.
