Treatment Type: Diagnostic Procedures
Caregiver: Vets Only

CT / CAT Scan (Computerized Axial Tomography) is a non-invasive procedure which uses low radiation X-rays to create a computer-generated, three-dimensional image of the body. The CT / CAT Scan is typically used to diagnose disorders of the head, spine, joints, soft tissues and bone.

The CT scan uses a narrow beam of X-rays which pass through the body and hit a detector on the opposite side. Since different organs and tissues have varying densities, the CT scan can reveal abnormalities like blood clots, cysts, tumors, scar tissue, etc.
