Meadow hay is the name for hay made from permanent and natural grasslands. Meadow hay contains a variety of grasses and other plants like clover, herbs and wild flowers.
Meadow hay is generally less expensive than single-grass or single-legume hay, though it may also contain more stones, sticks and random plants.
Meadow hay is typically high in fiber and low in protein. Meadow hay can be purchased in bales, or in bags which contain finely cut hay that is appropriate for feeding small animals like pet rabbits and guinea pigs.
