Guinea Pig Giardiasis
Giardiasis is an intestinal infection that is caused by a microscopic protozoan parasite Giardia duodenalis. Giardia infections in guinea pigs are caused when the animal by comes into contact with, or ingests, contaminated foods, soil, or water tainted by the feces of another animal with Giardia.
Giardiasis can cause intermittent or chronic diarrhea. Giardia tends to produce more symptoms in younger animals.
