I had a school of 8 White Cloud Mountain Minnows in one of my community tanks. They are a subtly beautiful fish with a shimmering silvery body with hints of pinks and blues and they have pretty translucent tails and fins, edged with an orangey red.
They are a schooling fish so the more the better. They are a good community fish provided their tankmates are not too large. They are relatively easy to care for with one caveat: They do not do well in warmer water. Keeping them in water above 22°C will apparently shorten their lifespan. Unfortunately I lost all except one to a heatwave. I put the lone survivor in with my Black Neon Tetras and he spent the rest of his days hanging out with them.
They are easy to feed, taking flakes and live food. They are supposed to be easy to breed if given the right conditions and I've read they can even be kept outside in ponds.
