"Plecos" are the go-to fish for most freshwater aquarists seeking some help keeping the glass clean. When the fish is small it easily glides across plastic plants, rocks and aquarium glass. As it grows, it can become too large to get into tight places. It also tends to get lazy and want to eat fish foods. Either way, it is a cool-looking fish. It's very tough and survive even with "mean" cichlids that like to pick an occasional fight.
