When i started my tank i had only guppies and a few neons. I inherited my first and only Silver Dollar from my brother as he was moving house and had to pack up his fish tank to be stored. At first i was skeptical as his silver dollar, along with a couple other fish i was also inheriting where massive compared to my little guppies and neons. I was preparing myself for the worst. To my surprise though, nothing happened.
My Silver Dollar is a tough fella, he has been through many tank moves (more then most fish would probably go through) and has put up with a few blackouts causing the temperature of the tank to drastically drop. At times it looked like he wasn't going to make it however he has always pulled through. He has been missing one side fin since i got him yet this doesn't appear to cause any issues and he is still able to swim properly!
Silver Dollars are a beautiful unique shape and they look great in a tank with live plants and some driftwood. I believe they are great for a community tank as they tend to do their own thing and don't really bother the other fish within the tank.
