the senegal bicher

this is my favorite fish in my tank. it goes under the name of senegal bicher, dinosaur fish, or my favorite, dragon fish. i purchased it at a LFS when it was about 2 inches long. at the time of me writing this review, it is about 9 inches long. they are pretty docile in the daytime, but they become hunters when the lights go out. they dont have very good eyesight, so they primarily hunt using ''smell''. a word of warning, although it may seem to get along with other tankmates smaller than itself, when the lights go out, it will try them. if its tankmates are small enough to fit in its mouth, he will attempt to eat them. for that reason, they are better kept with semi aggresive fish of the same general size. currently, he is in a 75 gallon tank with a pleco and two featherfin synodontis. all are generally the same size. if you really want to see this fish in action, get a night light for your fish tank. when i first got it, it would only eat bloodworms, but as it got bigger, he started to gladly take shrimp pellets. overall, as long as its with proper tankmates, this is a lovely addition to your (large) fish tank.
