This snakelike fish is a pleasure to own because it can breathe atmospheric air, it grows up to one foot, it is the most active in this species, the easiest to find and interesting to watch as it undulates in the aquarium plants. It has poor eyesight so depends mainly on its acute sense of smell to find food. I have noticed it and my Jack Dempsey coordinating their abilities to find food. They should not be kept with members of their own species unless the tank has a very large footprint. Overly aggressive bottom dwellers should be avoided with this fish.
