I had a 10 inch ropefish in a 30 gallon aqaurium with other community fish for about a year, he was mostly active at night and would always be on the side of the tank closest to where i would sit, he would always swim and what seemed to be playing with my cory cats. I used to place clear tubes connected in differetn ways in the tank and he would have a field day swiming in and out of it. he liked hiding in the plants and under rocks during the day but would always swim to the front if i went near the tank. he was always curious of what was going on outside the tank and i even was able to hand feed him shrimp.
One day he managed to get up enough thrust n leaped out of the tank when i was cleaning and made it a good 10 ft from the tank he was OK when i came back in the room n found him he was still moist so i know it must have happened at that moment.
Ropefish are fun fish to have in your community tank especially in pairs i would recommend it for anybody looking for something different.
