I find the shape, texture and capacity for multiple colours make the ricordea a very impressive display piece for any reef tank. They are instantly eye-catching and often a cause for conversation with people enjoying your tank. While they are not the most active corals in the tank they are a convenient size and you can include several polyps all of different colours on the one piece of live rock for a really unique look.
Unfortunately you must have very deep pockets in order to do this! They seem to be very expensive, especially compared to their relatives. Even though they are very common it seems to be the colours that fetch a much higher price.
They are often available for trade with fellow hobbyists or even online fraggers who want to expand their collection with different colours.
