I love angelfish, they're really striking fish and the marbled ones are a particular favourite of mine. However, I have no idea where they get their name from as their behaviour is far from angelic!

Whilst they aren't the most aggressive fish, even with plentiful food they seem to enjoy having a go at munching on anything smaller than them (annoying if you ever have any fry turn up in your tank.) Thankfully they don't usually get too big so there's a limited selection of what they can manage to eat but they do seem to like chewing for sport as well as food. Consider your tank compatibilities very carefully before buying one!

They can also be a little shy, which is disappointing considering how they look. They generally prefer to hang out at the back of the tank in any vegetation or wood pieces you may have.

However, they're surprisingly easy to keep and generally quite hardy in terms of disease which is great. I think their appetites can be a little too robust sometimes but with a little thought you should be able to deal with their slightly aggressive natures without too many problems.
