This fish is an easy to keep species which interact peacefully with other tank mates, the exception being small fish such as tetras which are targeted due to their small size. Being predatory this fish does enjoy meat products such as chopped prawn etc and will not readily accept flake food as an adult. Leopards are especially good to watch when feeding as you get to see them stalk their prey before opening up their mouths and sucking in their food whole. Due to the spines on their dorsal fin leopards are not easy to handle in nets and can become entangled so care should be taken when handling the fish.
