Kohaku Koi

Kohaku koi are beautiful fish that are large and showy. They are red and white, just like their name says (well, in Japanese, that is). They really are wonderful to watch and to enjoy, and they have a good lifespan. Koi are not aggressive or hard to care for. They eat almost anything and are very hardy.

The biggest consideration with koi is their size, and the size of their habitat.
Koi can grow to be very large We actually sold some of our koi at a big profit because they were still young and had grown so much. They really do need a big space to grow into, like an outdoor pond or water feature.

Be aware that keeping them in a pond or otherwise outside means that the koi can be exposed to birds and other predators. Kohaku koi are so brightly colored that they are easy targets. Good-quality koi can be expensive to buy, so this is a factor to keep in mind for anyone interested in owning koi.
