Koi are so iconic that its easy to see why people recognize them so easily. And they're just plain fun too. These fish will come up and beg for pellets and let you touch their heads which is great for kids and entertaining for adults too. They're huge though so don't plan to get some unless you have a place in mind where you can build them a massive pond that can be heated in the winter and protected all year round. Its a huge undertaking but these fish are pretty spectacular so it might just be worth it for you to do it. Aside from the huge space requirement they're fairly easy to keep alive. They eat pellets, they get along with each other, and they don't make a huge mess of anything. But they shouldn't have other, smaller fish in with them because they can become aggressive with them. Another bonus is that once they get to needing that giant pond they're fairly safe from most cats and turtles but still put up some protection for them just in case.
