Very breathtaking fish; not an interactive pet

We put five koi fish in our fountain outside when we lived in the countryside. They were very agreeable animals. Never seemed to have any health issues or needs besides feeding, and in return we had these pretty red-and-white speckled animals swimming about.

With the koi fish, their main asset is the sense of serenity you feel when you watch them. You cannot take them on a walk or interact with them very much, but as far as a pet to just study as they swim around and do their own business, it evokes a peaceful feeling.

If you're looking for a pet that will love you, then don't get a koi fit. Besides feeding, they didn't seem to care two dots about whether or not we were about. Not even sure if they were aware of our existence, to be honest.

They interacted well with each other. No problem there. They also didn't hide much, but in retrospect, they had no place to hide. They swam around the fountain fine, though.

We would have kept them much longer, but unfortunately, we had to move. Very highly recommended, as far as fish go. Just don't expect an affectionate pet. They're more of a pet to be observed.
