A review of my Aka Matsuba Koi

We've had this fish for close to 15 years now, possibly even longer than that even. When we first purchased him from a garden centre, he was only about 4 inches in length. Now, he's about 14 inches in size, and is still going strong. We have him in our garden pond and he loves it in there. He's an extremely hardy fish as he's survived about 15 Winters, many of which were bitterly cold, leaving our garden pond coated with a layer of ice around 6 inches thick at times. Last Easter we remodelled our pond and made it much larger, and added a much better filtration system. This has made a huge difference in his behaviour, encouraging him to become a lot more active and energetic. These Koi make a great addition to any garden pond and don't require too much attention either. They generally just eat regular koi pellets, but frozen food can be added at times too for an extra treat
