Loving my hammer coral!

The hammer coral classified under an LPS coral is a must have when creating a reef aquarium. My experience with these corals have been a great one. These corals need very low maintenance. No feeding is required if kept with fish, as your fish food and your fish's waste is enough to keep it living and thriving. Some coral food can be added for supplementing, but definitely not required. Hammer corals, need low to moderate lighting, with low water flow. Ive noticed hammer corals can lose their color and not fully open when kept under high light, high flow environments. I usually place my hammer corals low near the sand bed, or on the far sides of the tank to satisfy their lighting needs. Another thing to know is please give this coral space to grow, as they can eventually grow close to other corals in the tank, stinging them to the point of death.

Beautiful coral, with low maintenance, perfect for you new guys out there!
