Guppies were the very first pet I ever owned and had them for many years since. They are a rather plain and simple fish but are very hearty and easy to breed. The best part about them is that the females are live bearers so if you watch carefully enough you can see her giving birth to tiny babies. If you want to raise the babies you will need to remove them to another tank or have a sectioned off area (baby nets) so they do not get eaten by other adults. They are fairly easy to keep- basic tank, filter, food and occasional live plants to nibble is really all you need, with regular water changes. They are a great starter fish.
