Dull appearance, but very active and fun to watch them school.

Though their appearances are rather dull, giant danios are very active. They are always swimming, mostly schooling, and are very fast. However, the danios can be like the "piranhas" of the tank, since they always get to the food first and eat most of it before any of the other fish get there. They are great community fish, and they never even bother any of the other fish. When they chase after each other, they don't even nip fins or anything. They mostly just mind their own business.
As for their bland color... it isn't a big deal. These are the kind of fish that add some action to your tank, not color. If you put some angelfish in with them, it could just be the balanced combination of beauty and action that you are looking for.
