Around ten years ago Flowerhorns were all the rage among cichlid keepers. Myth said they were good luck in some cultures. Exotic fish shops were displaying unique fish, one per tank. People come in to "read" the color pattern on the side of the fish, which indicated what kind of luck the fish would bring. We got some small fish in the lab, to learn about their care. Our fish got very aggressive as they grew. Our fish did not get along with any other fish. But they ate anything and did not need special water conditions.
