Acquired: Fish / pet store

I bought an amazing tank, 210 litres with all the trimmings, heater, filter, lighting, gorgeous background to simulate a realistic environment. Even bought real plants, some lovely driftwood and a few ornaments. After the set up and cycling the tank, we slowly introduced our fish. As newbie fish owners we took lots of advice from our local experts at the fish shop. Within a few days one of the fish was sick. I panicked, thinking I had done something wrong, tested the water, treated it (as advised) but alas this fishy swam no more. Determined not to lose any of my little shoal I invested in fancy water testing kit, I read up on common Goldfish issues. I obsessed. But week by week more and more popped their fishy clogs (much to the bewilderment of our experts). Eventually I realised that the water changes were tedious and I didn't enjoy having fish any more so we made the decision that when our last fishy said goodbye, we wouldn't replace it. It would inevitably not take long on, if his fin-mates were anything to go by. He lived for MONTHS! Never again.
