Ah, the Common Goldfish! So many times a first pet for the young children of the world. This, despite common perception, is not the greatest starting fish in my opinion. Yes, the do seem easy to manage, and do not need a very complex structure for it. However, this species is not the nicest looking most of the time, and isn't the most interactive either. Depending on the environment, you may only see the fish half the time. Although, with this fish, you do not much of an environment, because each fish only really only needs eight to ten gallons of water (the more water, the less you have to change the water). All-in-all, this species is still a pretty good starter pet, but I believe there are better ones out there.
