A very strange looking animal came into my work one day. Yes even stranger than the tarantula lol. It Looked like a cookie, a very yummy one, but it wasnt . It was something called a chocolate chip seastar

Someone had abandoned his or her tank while moving homes so we got a tank full of sea water fish in. This yummy treat just caught my eye!

Like a chocolate chip cookie, this sea star has dark brown pointy horns shaped like chocolate chips all over the top of it for protection. The chocolate chip sea star has five arms. The 'chocolate chips' are variable in size, color and pattern and I had read online that no two of these species are exactly alike!

I didnt notice much movement but then again its a starfish :)
I noticed that he wasnt very compatible with the other fish and he had even eaten one of the smaller ones in there. My guess is that these fish need to be with more aggressive types.
They grow...and grow... and grow! Large tank is a must for these guys! And fun fact: did you know they can make an exact copy of themselves? Scary!

Overall I liked this starfish. Its looks good, and although a tad high maintenance its nothing that a beginner couldnt manage with a little practice!
