Out of all the various types of freshwater fish I have owned, the butterfly goldfish (or also known as "Black Chinese Goldfish") was my favorite, hands down. With their unique eyes/body they bring a sense of curiosity to the tank. I had very good luck with this fish, so long as it could remain alone. They tend to shy away from other freshwater fish (even regular goldfish) and try to eat all of the food.
If you are looking for a loner fish, this unique species has a lot to offer!
