"Tester" Fish

By

California, United States

When I came out of the specialty fish store with a 24 gallon tank and saltwater, I was given a bag of 10 of these little fish. The owner said they were "tester" fish and if I could keep these alive for a little more than two weeks then my tank would be safe for all the more expensive, and exotic fish I actually wanted.

I trusted his advice and low and behold two weeks later, all 10 were still alive. I feel bad calling the Blue Damselfish a "tester" fish, but I guess they are. They are easy to feed and care for. I don't recommend buying only a few of these. Buy a whole bunch because they like to be social and travel in a group.

They are pretty, but can blend into the water since they have that blue/silver camouflage going for them. Watch and make sure that ALL have them survived. Crabs like to eat their dead bodies. It's okay to let them, since it;s the natural order of things.
