This fish species is one of the easiest to keep and thrives in an established aquarium. It eats pellets, flakes, brine shrimp etc. It is a great species for a beginner aquarist as it is quite cheap to buy. It can become slightly aggressive towards conspecifics, but if the tank is large enough, this seldom happens. I had it in a 125 gallon tank with cardinals, clowns, wrasses, banner fish, shrimp and comet. I tried putting it with a butterfly, but it started nipping its fins.
