These are a hybrid fish that can't breed in captivity. Many of them will lay eggs but as far as I know they never hatch. They are an aggressive fish and should have tank mates with a similar temperament. They can't swim very fast given their shape and for this reason should not be housed with very aggressive fish that will bully them and nip their fins. They are easy to feed and are a hearty fish. They do best in a species tank.
