King of the Tank

The Attennata Lionfish is definitely an appealing addition to any salt-water fish tank. They are stunning and intoxicating to look at, and they certainly bring a flare to the look and feel of your tank.

However, the biggest issue I had with my lionfish was the level of aggression that it displayed towards my other salt water fish.

There were several instances of my lionfish killing and or eating other smaller fish within my tank, and it was quite troubling at some points because I felt as if it was a game of Russian roulette putting new fish in the tank.

Apart from aggression, the lionfish is also very dominant in terms of general behavior within the tank, and once you get one, it will pretty much act as the "centrepiece" to your habitat.

The lionfish also requires a lot more space than other fish, so it is really only a good match for someone with a large and spacious tank.

It may also be good to include this species in a tank with other same-size fish in addition to smaller species, just to even the playing field in terms of dominance.

Overall I would say that the is lionfish an undeniably beautiful and exciting pet to have, if you possess the proper resources to deal with this species.
