With nearly 7,000 species of frogs and toads known thus far, amphibian fans can look forward to a lifetime of interesting observations.

In common usage, frogs may be distinguished from toads by their smoother skins and aquatic or semi-aquatic lifestyles…but there are many exceptions. While several species regularly live to 20, 30 or even 50+ years of age, all frogs are very sensitive to water quality and, with few exceptions, need a varied diet of live foods. Handling, even for the very laid-back species, is a bad idea, as the skin’s protective mucus is easily removed. However, whether you desire a planted terrarium stocked with a breeding group of gaily-colored Dart Poison Frogs or a huge, ravenous, and well-named “Pac Man Frog”, these delightful creatures are well-worth the time and effort involved in their care.

(Our crack team of guinea pigs promises us they're on this.)
