Members of this highly-specialized family are widespread, but remain below ground unless accidentally unearthed by shovel – at which time they are usually mistaken for earthworms! Rarely kept as pets, most prey upon ants or termites, and accept little else as food. Those that take earthworms might conceivably be housed in an “ant-farm” type terrarium by very dedicated (some may say “obsessed”!) specialists.
