These magnificent creatures are among the most intelligent, socially-evolved and communicative of all reptiles, and have racked up longevities of 70+ years in zoos. Unfortunately, even the smallest – the Dwarf Caimans – can top 6 feet in length, while the much larger American Alligator and Black Caiman sometimes have been responsible for human fatalities. All are best enjoyed in zoos or the wild.
