Only those who have not investigated the mind-boggling array of Snails being kept by aquarists would write them off as “mere scavengers”. Some are as colorful as any fish, while others are always alert for algae and/or uneaten food. All are fascinating to observe, and hobbyists are delighted by the willingness of some to breed (not a common marine animal trait, as we all know!). Contrary to popular belief, Snails will not thrive on “left-overs”, as each species has specific dietary needs – but fans agree that they are worth the small effort involved!
