Once avoided by all but dedicated specialists, an incredible array of Corals is now being kept by aquarists worldwide. Polys or “Sea Mats” - individual coral animals that do not form the outer shell of the “Hard Corals” - are also growing in popularity. Many species can be kept with certain fish or invertebrates, while others cannot – some even battle and kill other Coral species (yes, Coral have exciting lives, once you understand them!). With their specific food, lighting, and water quality requirements, Corals and Polyps are not for the novice (or the careless!), but many hobbyists come to understand and successfully keep them in time.
