To the un-enlightened, the world’s 100,000+ Clams, Scallops and other Molluscs are not much more than “living rocks” or (Gasp!) a tasty meal. Fans of marine invertebrates know, of course, that many are actually quite colorful and active – to the point of shooting rapidly through the water, in the case of some Scallops! But until recently most were nearly impossible to maintain, mainly due to their “stubborn” refusal to consume anything other than huge quantities of microscopic organisms. Foods formulated specifically for them, and a better understanding of their other needs, has now ended the “Dark Ages of Mollusc-Keeping”…so go enjoy!
