The Conures are a large group of long-tailed, relatively slim-bodied small to mid-sized New World parrots. The birders generally refer to them as “Parakeets,” but the pet owners are aware of a great many other unrelated species also called “Parakeets,” and thus the term “Conure” is often preferable in aviculture. As far as the pet market is concerned, most Conures fall into two popular categories, the bold, brash Aratingas and the quieter, more subdued Pyrrhuras.
