My family has had a Westie for over 5 years, and we love our dog but may have not made the best choice for our family.

Positives: She's cuddly and friendly most of the time, very healthy, and easy to groom and care for. She has not had any health problems or problems with serious aggression. We love taking her for walks, and she does well on the leash. She eats well and we love her overall.

Negatives: She is not trained very well, and after puppy training it was difficult to teach her new commands. We did not keep up with practicing the commands with her, and it seemed harder to teach once she grew older. She can tend to be a barker, and likes her personal space, especially on our beds. She likes to be more independent than we would have cared for in a family dog, but she is well behaved most of the time.
